Splotter's future games
Designing a game is a long and uncertain process. Many unused ideas roam the
heads and houses of Splotter associates, some of which may actually get published
one day. Some excerpts:
- After Bonaparte
- is a 3-4 hour game developed by Ragnar Krempel and Joris
Wiersinga. It is basically a railroad game, but in this game,
the railroads' function is to transport armies and military
resources all over Europe. So, there is a strong military
aspect as well. The twist is that wars are forced upon you by
the diplomats - so you cannot really choose when to fight your
wars.
- Bush vs. Gore
- by Pieter Simoons and others is a two-hour game about winning
elections - by whichever means necessary! The board shows an
American town in Florida where recounts and district changes
are rather common.
- Dynasty
- by Bianca van Duijl and others is a three-hour game about medieval
Europe; in this feudal society, inheriting the right fiefs is vital;
but each fief follows different inheritance rules, so that each
dynasty may gain and loose large domains in a heartbeat.
- Hamburger
- A game by Jeroen Doumen about selling fast food value meals. Subject
to change - originally, the game was about shunting trains, so who
knows how it will develop.
- Holland
- by Tamara Jannink and others is a game about land use in Medieval Holland.
"God created the world, but Holland was made by the Dutch".
- Rise and Fall
- by Joris Wiersinga is set in the Turkish empire of the 1800's. Each
player controls a provincial governor. Each turn, the Sultan awards
a province to a specific governor. But as he fears successful
dignitaries, he removes anyone who becomes too powerful and relocates
him in the perifery. Can you make a career in this fluctating
environment?
