Roads & Boats puzzles (solitaire game)
Roads & Boats can be played as a puzzle. In that case, you
try to get the most points on a particular map in a limited
number of turns. In the "Paradise" puzzles, the map design
is part of the puzzle as well.
For each puzzle, I tried to indicate how difficult it is to
achieve a good score (a good score is about 75% of the
highest known score) and how much hope there is that the
record can be broken:
- new - any solution is welcome!
- experimental -
we are not aware of many serious attempts to break the
record - we may well have overlooked the real winning
strategy until now.
- well-studied -
several strategies have been explored, none of them
breaking the current record. Maybe you can squeeze
another 10 points for a gold piece or a wonder row out,
but it will not be easy.

In the paradise puzzles, you do not only try to find the optimal
strategy on a particular map - the design of the map itself is
part of the puzzle as well. Can you figure how many tiles are
needed to produce 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 shares in 20 turns?
Or can you figure out what is the maximum number of points you
can achieve in 20 turns on an ideal map?
The current records are as follows:
